🕊️ About Diet Over Disease

Food. Family. Faith. Freedom from illness.
At Diet Over Disease, we believe the body is designed to heal when it’s nourished with the foods that nature provides. Our mission is to guide and equip Baby Boomers and Seniors to rediscover vitality through holistic and nature inspired nutrition, lifestyle balance, and everyday stewardship of God’s creation.

Founded by Dr. Gregory Villar-Byers (“Old Guy Outside”), the program blends decades of international leadership, real-world wellness experience, and simple, practical steps anyone can follow. Whether you’re managing chronic conditions, seeking renewed energy, or just wanting to age with strength and grace, this community meets you where you are—with encouragement, evidence, and hope.

What We Stand For

  • Food — as a healing tool.

  • Science as the guide — applying proven evidenced based, nutritional and lifestyle insights.

  • Nature as the model — fresh foods, fresh air, and mindful movement.

  • Community as the strength — learning and growing together.

Every lesson, article, and app we create is built to help you live longer, live stronger, and live purposefully—body, mind, and soul.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

My name is Dr. Gregory A. Villar-Byers, though most people online know me as OldGuyOutside.

After decades working with the U.S. military overseas, I realized that the same discipline, planning, and care we use to protect others should apply to our own wellness. As I grew older, I saw firsthand how much our daily habits shape our long-term health, mobility, and happiness.

I also saw how hard it can be to find clear, trustworthy guidance—especially in a world full of quick fixes, harsh opinions, and conflicting advice.

So I built Diet Over Disease to be different:
a place where adults—especially seniors—can learn, grow, breathe, laugh, and take steps forward at their own pace.

You didn’t come this far to stop
